A Continuing Education Course for Pilates Instructors

Teaching From Within

Breath, Somatic Awareness, and Embodiment in Pilates

Saturday, May 31st 2-5p on Zoom

Teach from Presence.

Move from Within.

Teaching from Within: Breath, Somatic Awareness, and Embodiment in Pilates is a 3-hour continuing education workshop designed for Pilates instructors and movement educators who want to move beyond external form and deepen into the internal, lived experience of the body.

Through a combination of accessible theory, guided breathwork, somatic movement practices, and applied teaching strategies, participants will explore how breath and sensory awareness transform movement learning, emotional regulation, and student outcomes.

This workshop integrates key principles from somatic education lineages with nervous system regulation practices rooted in contemporary science, offering a balanced blend of embodied experience and professional development.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to teach from their own embodied presence, how to facilitate internal agency in their students, and how to create movement environments that foster sustainable, intuitive, and resilient movement practices.

In this course, you’ll learn:

  • ✔ Somatic Principles in Pilates

Discover how internal sensing, interoception, and embodiment deepen the quality of Pilates practice and instruction.

  • ✔ Breathwork for Nervous System Regulation

Explore simple breath techniques that support parasympathetic activation, emotional regulation, and embodied movement learning.

  • ✔ Sensory-Centered Cueing Strategies

Learn to guide students through movement using sensation-based, permission-centered language rather than mechanical correction.

  • ✔ Teaching Through the Lens of Embodiment

Develop skills to foster internal awareness, agency, and presence both in your students and in your own teaching practice.

  • ✔ Trauma-Sensitive Movement Principles

Understand how breath-led, invitational movement supports safety, adaptability, and nervous system regulation in Pilates sessions.

  • ✔ Practical Applications for Somatic Teaching

Leave with accessible tools, breath practices, and embodied strategies you can immediately weave into your classes and private sessions.
