A Continuing Education Course for Pilates Instructors

The Science of Restoration

Exploring Mobility, Restorative Asana, and Trauma-Informed Teaching

Saturday, May 31st 2-5p on Zoom

Restore the Body.

Rewire the System.

The Science of Restoration: Exploring Mobility, Restorative Asana, and Trauma-Informed Teaching is a 3-hour immersive workshop designed for Pilates instructors and wellness professionals seeking a deeper, science-backed approach to restorative teaching.

Through a combination of accessible theory, guided breath-centered movement labs, restorative asana practices, and trauma-sensitive teaching frameworks, participants will explore how breath, fascia, and conscious rest interact with the nervous system to facilitate healing at both the physical and neurological levels.

The workshop draws on cross-disciplinary wisdom from Pilates, yoga, and somatic education, integrating contemporary research in fascia science, brainwave theory, and trauma healing. It offers a balanced blend of scientific knowledge, somatic awareness, and practical teaching strategies.

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how to facilitate sustainable, embodied healing through movement — not by doing more, but by creating the conditions for the body’s innate capacity for regulation, adaptability, and restoration to emerge.

In this course, you’ll learn:

  • ✔ Fascia & Nervous System Connection

Understand how fascial health, chronic stress, and sympathetic upregulation can impact mobility, breath, and nervous system function.

  • ✔ Restorative Asana for Healing

Explore restorative postures that support parasympathetic activation, brainwave shifts, and the body’s innate capacity to recover.

  • ✔ Mobility vs. Flexibility

Learn how to differentiate between passive stretching, fascial release, and restorative movement to support functional range, tissue health, and nervous system balance.

  • ✔ Breath as a Bridge to Recovery

Practice breath-centered mobility and downregulating breathwork to support healing, pain relief, and emotional regulation.

  • ✔ Trauma-Informed Teaching Foundations

Learn how to apply invitational language, choice-based cueing, and co-regulation to foster safer and more inclusive movement spaces.

  • ✔ Integrating Restoration into Pilates Sessions

Walk away with science-backed frameworks and simple practices to support students with chronic pain, dysregulation, or fatigue.
